Geely Galaxy, a sub-brand of Geely Auto, has released additional official images of the Galaxy Cruiser 700, a mid to large-size SUV positioned as an AI-powered, all-terrain hardcore vehicle designed for off-road capabilities.
The vehicle showcases a boxy body design with bold angular lines, creating a distinctly rugged off-road appearance. The front fascia features a long rectangular grille and full-width daytime running lights with an illuminated brand logo, while the rear presents a cleaner aesthetic with vertical taillights and an externally mounted spare tire.
Powertrain and Performance
The Cruiser 700 is equipped with a tri-motor, four-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid system with a differential lock. The powertrain delivers a combined system power of 830 kW (1,113 hp, 1,128 Ps), achieving a power-to-weight ratio of 392 Ps per ton. Geely claims this represents the highest power-to-weight ratio among mass-produced off-roaders globally and the highest combined system power for any mass-produced plug-in hybrid off-roader.
Advanced Driving Technologies
The vehicle features Geely's in-house developed GVMC (Geely Vehicle Motion Control) dynamic control system, which the company claims enables the vehicle to pass the moose test at 80 kilometers per hour. The AI-powered intelligent four-wheel-drive system automatically switches between front-wheel, rear-wheel, and four-wheel-drive modes, while integrating advanced features including crab mode, tank turn, flat-tire driving capability, and continuous automatic obstacle avoidance.
Additional Features
The Cruiser 700 offers an 800-millimeter wading depth and satellite communication capabilities. A roof-mounted LiDAR indicates support for advanced driver-assistance functions. The vehicle has already completed extreme cold-weather testing at Sweden's Colmis proving ground and is undergoing multi-scenario validation worldwide.
Market Strategy
The launch of the Cruiser 700 comes as Chinese automakers accelerate their expansion into the rugged SUV segment, with competitors like BYD and GWM already offering multiple models. This vehicle is positioned as crucial to reviving the Geely Galaxy brand, which reported a 19.75% year-on-year sales decline in May, marking the fifth consecutive month of decline.
